Favourite Career Moments

"In '99, in F3 at Pembery, my best remembered moment was clawing my way back up through the field from 10th all the way up to 4th in a highly competitive race. Pure racing adrenalin."

"I started 2000 on fire, with two podium finishes in my first four races, then notched 4th and 5th at Snetterton and the Brands Hatch GP circuit, which was a special moment for me in an incredible year."

"In terms of sheer performance and sustained concentration, I remember qualifying on the second row in the pouring rain at Thruxton in 2000, which was the most pressure I had been under as a racer up until that point.
Proving I could cope with that was a big personal and professional milestone and has been an excellent asset ever since."

"At the Nurburgring in 2001 in F3000, I didn’t know the famous old circuit and had to learn it in the actual race, whilst battling with Felipe Massa for 4th place, that is one of the most intense and personally satisfying battles I have ever been in.”

“At Monza in 2001, again in F3000, the temperature in the car was sweltering and in excess of 50 degrees! I thought to myself, if I get through this, I can get through anything. I have always valued my fitness, but never more than on that day. From then on I paid special attention to my physical preparation to ensure I could concentrate on driving rather than surviving!”

"At Brands in 2003, my double BTCC victory in the BMW with a 42 kilo handicap was extremely satisfying! I qualified in 2nd in the first race, then had a Pole Position to top-of the-podium grandstand finish in the 2nd race. To overcome such a huge weight penalty in a totally new type of car from what I had raced before showed my versatility and determination."
